Flying Ointment Recipe

Following the mugwort article, here is the recipe:

Designed to be applied onto pulse/chakra points before meditation, ritual, spellwork, or dreamwork, to deepen your connection to self & spirit.

Note: Do not apply in pregnancy, lactation, to broken skin or orifices. Wash hands after application. This ointment will keep for approx. 3 mths on shelf & 6 mths in fridge. It may separate slightly & can simply be remixed with a spoon. If it goes mouldy, throw out.

Ingredients:

Quarter cup of beeswax or eighth cup of candelilla plant wax

Quarter cup olive oil

Total of one tsp of mixed powdered herbs (I suggest any of the following: Mugwort, rose, peppermint, rosemary, dragon’s blood)

1 tsp ash – can use incense ash, burnt petition paper, fire ash, etc.

Half tsp benzoin powder

A total of half a tsp of mixed essential oils from this list: mugwort, peppermint, clary sage, rose, vervain, rosemary)

Bowl, spoon, double boiler, sterilised jar for the ointment, labels.

Method:

1 – choose, measure & mindfully mix the powders in a bowl, stirring clockwise & focusing on your intention for this mix.

2 – choose, measure & mindfully mix the essential oils into each other in a separate small bowl to ensure correct measurement.

3 - Combine the wax & olive oil in a double boiler & melt over a low heat, stirring.

4 – When melted, add in the ash, pre-mixed powders, & benzoin. Blend mindfully, stirring clockwise, giving intention & direction to each ingredient. Say a charm or spell now if you like. Simmer gently for 10min.

5 - Remove mix from the heat, add essential oils, stir.

6 - strain entire mix through cheesecloth quickly before it solidifies, then pour into jar & label clearly with name, ingredients, date. Store out of reach of pets and children.
