Triggers

Here's something I talk to my patients about a lot.

We've all got them; something that is guaranteed to send us off-course and spiral our nervous system into meltdown. Maybe it's a person, a word, an emotion. Maybe you don't know what they are yet, you just know you live in a constant state of fight-or-flight, anxiety, uncertainty, physical pain.

The truth is, triggers can be our greatest teachers. They are massive flashing neon signs pointing out what we can heal. They can be the gateway to becoming a really evolved emotionally aware person.

I'm not dismissing or minimising triggers, here. None of this work is easy. It's because it's so painful that it can be so transformative.

In a herbal medicine consultation, we'll explore what your triggers are, how they developed, and what a sensible and safe process to begin managing this might look like.

Physically taking herbs can help triggers, of course; they help you calm your mind so you can do the inner work needed to heal. They can improve your sleep, cognitive functioning, physical health, so that there are fewer barriers between you and the life you want and deserve.

Taking herbs 2 or 3 times a day is a reminder for a 2 minute check in with yourself to observe your emotions and to have a glass of water (my life mission is to hydrate people). My process is all about habit-stacking with people. What are you already doing that works? It only needs to be one thing, even going to the toilet for a wee once a day!v We can pin every other health habit on it, and grow from there. I've got ADHD that was running the show for a long time, believe me, we can figure something out that works for you!

There's no such thing as a herb for trauma (there's herbs I commonly give for traumatised people - that's not the same thing.) What there is, is relationship between practitioner and patient, conversation, relational depth, relational healing, and you having finally decided you've bloody had enough of living this way and that something has to change.

That rock-bottom is your turning point.

As ever, I'm speaking from experience - I could never teach or hold space for something that I've not experienced. Believe me, I get it. Going from dysfunctional and struggling to happy and thriving is the toughest work of your life... but you're already struggling, so why not struggle in a different way, for less time, and actually get something better at the end?

I'm here when you're ready, and we'll walk through that trigger gateway together.
