A Tale of Two Jobs

I often use my quieter days at the shop for my NHS mental health job (not herbal related).
People have sometimes expressed surprise that I work in the NHS (technically, I'm employed by a small Community Interest Company from whom the NHS buys a yearly package), but let me tell you why I love it.

- I get to work with vulnerable patients and make a difference, advocating for their health needs in a system that tries to ignore them.
- I get great free training multiple times a year that I can bring back to my own practice.
- Patients get to talk to someone who has a 40min appointment slot booked out entirely for them and isn't burnt out by their role.
- I get good management, supervision & development opportunities, working in a tiny and close team in GP surgeries spread all across Cheshire.
- The stability and security of the job allows me to take risks in my HH business, to keep HH as my passion project, and to take time off either job when needed (much needed for a neurodivergent busy mother!)
